Ass-Headed Bottom: Sometimes tragedies in the actual world pack too much shock and awe for fiction to keep up. Flying the flag upside down is probably an insufficient statement for all that is wrong with my beloved country; perhaps if Tommy Lee had re-sewn the flag inside-out, I would've been more taken with this movie's symbolism. I do wonder what Charlize Theron hopes to gain by constantly pretending to be dowdy when she's in fact thermometer-burstingly gorgeous. In any case, Elah is in Israel, not Palestine.
