Sita Sings the Blues

The only movies worth watching, apparently, are animations. This joyful adaptation of the Ramayana, interwoven with modern day heart-brea, is tremendous! And fun and colorful and playful and inventive and gorgeous and silly and smart and bursting with creative juice squeezed out of misery, unlike that other Indian epic bore Koko made me watch long ago. And it's even free of all copyright mumbo-jumbo––and therefore available to watch in its entirety on the interfluffer (though not to watch it big and in the dark seems outright stupid)––because this Nina Paley chick has really thought things through as evidenced here. Also, the scene where the cat is hungry is all the proof Slothy needs to fire-roast the next cat he sees. A-

Koko: You're going straight to Hindu-hell for this.
Pretty cartoons or Krishna kicking ass?
