Koko blew both matches thanks to nerves and mistimed groundstrokes. She served well and played effectively at net but sprayed too many easy forehands and creeped along the baseline, content to retreat and hit with backspin rather than take control of the rally and go for backhand winners down the line.

The lesson for today? "I had a lover's quarrel with the world."

For the next round, Koko will learn her not the photoshop skills she so desperately needs nor the forgotten math that frustrated her sleep this morning, when she discovered her dreaming self performing calculations that her waking self could not understand; instead, she will learn her some mental fortitude.
