How can Protestants so flagrantly misread their sacred texts?! That's what happens when you take the Word from the magister and give it to the lay. Perhaps the Catholics were right: not everyone is meant to read the Bible. What a heartbreaking, unnecessary mess we got ourselves into when we turned the greatest story ever told into articles of extermination. And for such trivial differences. Sexuality, in the main, is quite benign. Love is what gets us into trouble; love is malevolent and jealous.

Anyway, no need to preach. All told, I was encouraged to see that at least New Hampshire had the fair sense to elect a gay bishop, even if his opposition did concoct and circulate rumors to have him discredited as a pedophile. I guess that's the best we can do until we evolve a conscience to go with our relentless reptilian distrust and our talent for self-delusion. Definitely a movie worth watching. Decidedly not a song to teach to children.
