Is it just me, or does the old man in this picture look eerily like a fighting priest? Perhaps it's the collar of his jacket? In any case, as happens with most of Mamet's film projects that don't involve Chicago pawnshoppers or getting robbed in the Florida Keys by Steve Martin and your wife, the art here eludes me. A nice black man eaten by a bear in the Arctic wilderness? David, I did not see that coming. Nevertheless, how special when Anthony Hopkins, just escaped from the clutches of the fierce bear, exclaims, "He's a maneater!" When will you ever hear that word again?

The Edge
