Mother And Son

When Slothrop watched Woman in the Dunes he fell asleep and felt guilty for succumbing to a soporific art show. When Slothrop watched Mother and Son he fell asleep--more like dozed off, really, here and there in the midst of some foggy grass-- and felt purified for having done so. He's a good son and can't wait to not stay awake again, it was that good.
