Summer of Sam

Koko: Yeah, I get it, ambivalence proves affection. Profoundly unoriginal point, Mr. Lee. What's worse, the vehicle arguing that point lacks structure and coherence; it's just an idea, and ideas burn up art from the inside like aesthetic cancer. If you want to document the consciousness of a city, do it. But don't cast yourself as a news reporter. Don't hesitate by bringing together five mildly unrelated stories and then letting them scatter. Don't wander around pretending to be Durkheim. Don't make this movie.

I'm starting to think the only good films are in Russian.
